Gingerbread Village Festival

For several years now, the Westminster Church of the Brethren has co-sponsored the Gingerbread Village Festival with Human Services Programs of Carroll County.  Nancy McCrickard came up with the original idea to have the festival of different gingerbread houses raise money for those who do not have homes.  This year the festival takes place in the Winchester Exchange from November 21 through December 1, but not on Thanksgiving.  The times on weekdays are from 10 AM to 8 PM, Saturdays, 10 to 6, and Sundays, noon to 4.  Attendees may buy tokens to vote for their favorite entries.

Westminster Church of the Brethren created an entry for the festival based on Heifer's Global Village at Shepherd's Spring camp in Sharpsburg, Maryland.  The purpose of the Global Village is to help students understand how people live in different places around the world and that we need to share to have enough to eat.

Barb Darsch headed the group that designed and built the entry.  Helping her were Marilyn Ebaugh and Jeanne Dussault.
