Glenn McCrickard, Senior Pastor
Pastor Glenn is a native of Franklin County, VA and a graduate of Bridgewater College (1988) and Bethany Theological Seminary (1991). His wife, Nancy, serves as Executive Director of the Science Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke VA and is nearing completion of her PhD from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. The McCrickards have 2 sons, Matthew, 18, who attends the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Benjamin, 11, who is completing the sixth grade.
Pastor Glenn expresses his vision of ministry as one in which the church is to be an inviting and accepting community where each one can be encouraged in faith. It is a gathering of committed individuals who seek to embody God’s presence in and discern God’s leading for their shared ministry. In word and deed, I will seek to lead the congregation in fulfilling its missional responsibility. He draws energy from engaging conversations with colleagues, parishioners, family/friends and the people he meets at seminars. He nurtures his spirit by practicing Lectio Divina, reading, photography, and going on silent retreats at the Abbey of Gethsemane, a Trappist monastery in Kentucky.
Twyla Rowe, Minister of Christian Nurture
Pastor Twyla has been the Minister of Christian Nurture since 2001. She grew up in Lititz, PA , which is located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch country of Lancaster County. She attended Elizabethtown College, Eastern Mennonite College and an extension of Bethany Seminary.
Twyla is married to Don, a custodian, and they have two married sons. Nicholas is married to Vicki, both are working as music therapists. Nick is also attending grad school at Lancaster Bible College. Their younger son is Zachary, who is married to Liz. Zach graduated from Stevens Technical College and is now employed as an auto mechanic. Liz graduated from Harrisburg community college and is employed as a preschool teacher.
Family is very important to Twyla, so she enjoys being with her family. When she is riding motorcycle with her husband, scrap booking family pictures, or spending a weekend with her boys and their families, she feels on top of the world.
Twyla has a passion for helping people know that God is present in our world today. God is not just some far away being whom we admire. God lives right where we are. In today’s world far too many people feel abandoned, abused and lost because of the selfishness and hatred that is prevalent in society. It is no wonder people ask whether there is a God who really cares about us. There is a God. We can see, hear and intimately know God, if we know where to look and if we take the time to find God.
