Who we are
Westminster Church of the Brethren is a biblically grounded community committed to continuing the work of Jesus, peacefully, simply and together. We are a group of caring, active, community-minded folks who love each other and our neighborhood. We host a weekly Loaves and Fishes community meal and food pantry, have an active Peace and Justice Forum and work with a host of community partners, including our church neighbor, St. Paul’s UCC and the Carroll County Interfaith Alliance for Racial Justice. Local musicians and social service agencies regularly use our space.
Our congregation is a part of the Church of the Brethren denomination, and the Mid-Atlantic District Office is located in our building. We love our regional church camp, Shepherd’s Spring Camp and Retreat Center. Learn more about our worship and music here, and find out about all the ways we connect with one another and the community here.
The Church of the Brethren has long recognized the inherent worth of all human beings. We hear the call of our faith to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with a loving God. Racism is a concern as we strive to love both God and neighbor.
We acknowledge that we have not done all we can to eliminate racism, both overt and subtle; and as a congregation, we commit ourselves individually and as a diverse body to build genuine relationships with a diversity of people, to develop a deeper under standing of systemic racism, and to advocate for an end to racial injustice. We invite all who read this statement of faith and commitment to join us in the journey toward ending racial injustice in our community, our state, and our nation.
