Our congregation is committed to expansively studying what it means to be Christian, intentionally supporting each other, willingly reaching out to others in service - locally and globally - and honoring Christ's call to be peacemakers. These are some of the ways we put those commitments into action.

Study & Support

  • Bible Study

We share in a weekly Bible study together, usually on Thursday evenings at 7pm. Folks join together over Zoom - contact the Church Office if you’d like to join!

  • Yoga Classes

On most Wednesdays, we offer a chair yoga class in the Fellowship Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  This class is good for people with some physical limitations. Samatha Yingling is our instructor.  Cost per session attended is $5.

You may register for either class by calling our church office, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 1 PM.

  • Book Group

Our book group meets regularly to discuss books - mostly fiction. Some recent books we’ve read include The Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford, and The Measure by Nikki Erlick..

Reaching Out in Service

  • Loaves & Fishes Community Meal

Each Saturday over a hundred people from the Westminster area come to lunch in the Fellowship Hall of The Westminster Church of the Brethren. Loaves and Fishes is an outreach ministry of our congregation with the goal to feed and assist those in need in our community. It has been providing meals each Saturday for over thirty years. Doors open to the guests at 10:30 AM and a hot lunch is served from 11:30am to 12:30 PM. Each week different Westminster congregations and community organizations take turns providing meals and hosts from our congregation are always present to set up the dining area and assist during the meal and clean up.

  • F.A.B.B.

Fixing, Assisting, Building Brethren meets the second Saturday of the month, starting with breakfast! The remainder of the morning is spent in service to a member of the congregation, to one another, and occasionally to meet a need in our community.

  • Disaster Ministries

Several times a year we send crew of volunteer workers and cooks to work with Brethren Disaster Ministries in a community that has been damaged by a natural disaster. These crews stay in a community for a week helping to repair and rebuild homes of people affected by the disaster. People in our church supply food and donations of money to feed the crew for the week.

  • Shepherd's Staff

Shepherd's Staff is a nonprofit agency providing assistance to those who are homeless, unemployed, and low-income workers.  Largely supported by churches, this agency is one that the Church of the Brethren regularly supports.

Honoring Christ’s Call to Peacemaking

  • Peace & Justice Forum

The Peace & Justice Forum meets monthly, to engage, inspire and empower our congregation to identify and peacefully challenge injustices in our community, nation and world through partnerships, healthy conversations, education and advocacy. Recently, we’ve hosted conversations on racial justice, gun violence prevention and governmental changes.

  • Carroll County Interfaith Alliance for Racial Justice

The Interfaith Alliance for Racial Justice grew out of a Kingian Nonviolence training that our church participated in with other local congregations. Today, the Alliance includes 14 faith communities, including a Hindu congregation, an Islamic community, 2 Black Christian churches and 10 primarily White Christian groups. We operate under the umbrella of the Carroll Community Foundation.
